James Woods

James Woods

President

James Woods joined PTIA in 2014 as a Director and became the President in 2021.

James is also founder and Managing Director of Silva Global, which is a provider of specialist construction, mining, and civil engineering products. Silva Global have a particular focus on high-quality procurement, on-time delivery and finding solutions to engineering problems.

James has over 25 years’ experience across a range of international roles in construction, mining, engineering and corporate leadership. James has a degree in Engineering and Management from University of Brighton and has worked in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Australia.

James combines on-site construction engineering experience with manufacturing and product skills, as well as operational implementation of solutions and strategies across various businesses.

At the PTIA, James was part of the team that implemented the CARES PT scheme.

Max Schweiger

Secretary and Director

Max Schweiger joined PTIA when it was founded in 2003 and is a Director and Secretary.

Max’s current role is Key Account manager at Silva-Global and prior to this he was General Manager of Building & Products at SRG Global.

Max has over three decades’ experience working in the post-tensioning industry both in Australia and internationally.

Max has a degree in civil engineering from University of Technology, Sydney and has worked in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and the Middle East.

Max was closely involved in the founding of the PTIA and is particularly focused on continuing to develop high standards for the post-tensioning design and construction industry which will continue to sustain a resilient and professional industry.

Don Fraser

Don Fraser held the position of President of the PTIA from 2013 to 2021. Don is also a Director of Interspan, a post-tensioning company that provides an integrated design, manufacturing, and construction service for building projects.

Don is a structural design engineer and has degrees in engineering and commerce from the University of Wollongong. Don has designed commercial, residential, and industrial buildings in the United Kingdom and Australia.

As Director of the PTIA, Don strives to represent the broad interests of the post-tensioning industry, working with contractors, suppliers, workers, engineers, and other participants to implement programmes which address quality standards, accreditation, training. He also promotes the profile and benefits of the post-tensioning sector.

Lance Rogers

Director

Lance is the Managing Director of Quantum Consulting Engineers founded in 2016. Lance has worked as a structural engineer focussed on post-tensioning design and construction both in Australia and overseas for over 20 years. During this time he developed and commercially launched the first proprietary Australian temporary movement dowel system.

Within the industry Lance is known for innovative solutions to complex problems, specialising in remedial strengthening using Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers, stressed steel design and FRP modular systems.

Lance graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, majoring in Structural Engineering. He is a member of Institute of Engineers Australia and holds all national and state engineering licence requirements. He has 20 years of experience – including 6 years in the UK and Europe, leading large engineering teams on major projects both private and public.

Lance has also been in the role of Technical and Quality Manager responsible for ensuring compliance with the CARES specification in the UK. This consisted of ensuring the requirements such as product certifications, testing and installation were met as a CARES approved organisation.

Lance was elected to the PTIA board in 2021 and is co-chair of the Technical
Committee.

Timothy Peters

Timothy Peters

Director

Tim Peters is Chairman and Founding Partner of EDGE Consulting Engineers – a multi-disciplinary Engineering Practice with offices in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and United Kingdom.

The Company is active on significant projects in several other countries, including the complex construction environments of Nepal, Afghanistan, and South Sudan.

Tim is a Civil Engineer with his career spent predominately in building structures. He is Chartered in Australia and New Zealand and holds a Master of Engineering from QUT. He is a specialist in post-tensioning design in buildings, having worked for several large specialist contractors.

He has spent his career predominantly based in Australia, however, has been involved in engineering works associated with a number of projects of international renown including Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong, The Shard in London, and Atlantis Hotel in Dubai.

Tim is actively involved with the School of Engineering and Built Environment at Griffith University and is a Foundation Member of the Industry Advisory Board for the School where he chairs the Civil Committee. Tim is also a Director of Post Tensioning Institute of Australia and committee member of the Gold Coast Branch of the Concrete Institute of Australasia.

Sander van Ameijde

Sander van Ameijde, BEng civil (hon), BBus, GIACD, director of DYWIDAG APAC, has a wealth of knowledge in civil construction methods and design.

He started his professional career in the Netherlands at Arcadis in design, followed in project management at a main contractor Strukton. He started his career at Tensacciai in Netherlands and in 2007 joined DYWIDAG Netherlands.

He executed numerous projects, large and small, including inspection and strengthening, staycable bridges, fire protection and very large bridge structures. After immigration to Australia, Sander has been leading the local entity of DYWIDAG, adding a wealth of knowledge.

DYWIDAG Australia focusses on both geotechnical anchoring as well as post-tensioning of structures. Recently DYWIDAG and Sander have extended their services to include lifespan management with inspection, repair and strengthening as well as monitoring.

Sander was elected to PTIA Board of Directors in October 2021  and is the chair of the Industry, Education and Training Committee.

Scott Jones

Scott has 25 years of experience in all facets of the post tensioning industry, with exposure to major developments worldwide in many countries & continents, Australia-wide, New Zealand, Asia, UK, Ireland, Middle East, India, Pakistan, Europe & Africa.

Scott was a part of the APS Group a founding member establishing the association of the PTIA.

While in the UK, he was first introduced to UK CARES, completed its accreditation, and became a keen advocate of its ideals.

He has a great dedication to the PT industry, its people, suppliers, the quality and lasting legacy.

Scott’s experience and extensive technical knowledge of the post tensioning industry is an asset to the PTIA, championing its cause for quality and standards, and, being based in Queensland, giving a nation-wide view.

James Mizzi

James has been in the post-tensioning industry for over 10 years and is the Business Development Manager for Interspan Victoria – a provider of technical engineering consultancy and construction services, focusing on the design and delivery of post tensioning systems and structural solutions.

James’ experience has always been engineering focused, starting his professional career as a graduate engineer and worked his way to senior engineer. He has current and practising knowledge of post-tensioning systems with a specialisation in structures.

With over 100 building designs completed throughout Australia, ranging from single floor residential structures to high rise developments, James has broad knowledge of post-tensioning systems throughout the lifecycle of a structure, from feasibility studies to design, installation, and inspections.

James holds a degree in civil engineering from Melbourne University and is a Registered Professional Engineer within Victoria. James is passionate about improving the quality standards of post-tensioning design and construction throughout the industry.
